Embracing the World as Jews: An Exploration of Our Future
7:00 p.m. – Shabbat Minhah
7:30 p.m. – Dinner, Singing and Discussion with the clergy. (Dinner is free and generously sponsored by Jacqueline and Hilbert Eshaghpour, but please RSVP by Thursday, June 2 at Noon.) Click here to RSVP
Session I: “Being Jewish in a Non-Jewish World: Exploring Ancient Sources.” We will ask the following contemporary question: How do we respond courageously and creatively to the challenges of sustaining a minority culture in a diverse, open society?
8:50 p.m. – Festival Ma’ariv Service
9:15 p.m. – Session II – “Embracing the World as Jewish Young Adults.” A panel of Temple Israel high school seniors and college students will explore with us how they navigate their Jewish identities in Great Neck and on college campuses. What are the challenges they face and the insights they gain as Jews finding their way in the wider community?
10:00 p.m. – Enjoy assorted desserts, coffee, tea, and ice cream sundaes.
10:20 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. – Late night study and singing led by the clergy.
SUNDAY, JUNE 5
9:15 a.m. – Festival Services: Blessing of the Babies and Young Children (stuffed Torahs provided in memory of Morah Ronnie Katz z’l’. )
3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Outdoor Shavuot Gathering’ at Allenwood Park. Snacks provided.
8:15 p.m. – Festival Minhah/Ma’ariv Service
MONDAY, JUNE 6
9:15 a.m. – Festival Shaharit Service including dedication of Memorial Plaques and Yizkor
